Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Excel template calculate totals automatically?
Yes. Each line's Amount is Quantity × Rate, the Subtotal sums the lines, the Tax is Subtotal × your tax rate, and the Total adds them together — all with built-in formulas. You fill in the shaded cells and the numbers update themselves. Change the tax-rate cell to your own GST, VAT or sales-tax percentage.
Will it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. Upload the .xlsx to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets, or use File → Import. The formulas convert and keep working, so it doubles as a Google Sheets invoice template. It also opens in Excel, LibreOffice Calc, Numbers, and WPS.
Which cells do I edit?
The shaded (pale yellow) cells are the ones to fill in — your business details, the client, the invoice number and dates, the line items, and the tax rate. Everything unshaded is either a label or a formula that calculates on its own, so you can leave those alone. The first line item is an example; overwrite it with your own.
Is it really free?
